How to wear band tees

What better way to show the love for our favourite band than proudly wearing their shirts everywhere we go? Oh, you are already doing that? I am here to help you spice up the ordinary band t-shirt and skinny jeans combo in the most effortless ways.

The casual crop top and high waisted shorts

For the first look we are trying to keep it more in the confort zone, so we are taking the crop top and the high waisted shorts that you have worn way too much this summer, paired with some white Converse. Now, this simple outfit is not enough for your inner fashionista, so add a crochet bustier in the days when you are feeling a little bit more fancy or a flannel for those chilly nights (can also be knotted around your waist). The part where everything is going crazy is ACCESSORIES. A chic fedora, some nice Ozzy style sunglasses, a cuff or arm candy, lots of rings or even a body chain, really anything your heart desires.

The girly crop top and skater skirt

Also an outfit featuring everyones favourite basics, we are talking about the girly side of punk rock, for the times you want to look stylish without giving up on your personality. The Guns'n'Roses crop top that you love so much, together with a maroon (or any colour actually) high waisted skater skirt and some booties (I am still in love with the Jeffrey Campbell's Litas). After building the foundation, it's time to add the missing bits and pieces, and there are so many variants to choose from. A floppy fedora, some dainty earrings and playful ruffle socks or a flower crown, a statement necklace and a small purse (Rebecca Minkoff's Mini Mac is bae) are great picks.

Wear it as a dress

Found one of your dad's old t-shirts, you really want to wear it but it's way too big. No problem girl, you just got to cut it's sleeves off and wear it as a dress (but make sure your dad doesn't want it anymore, because that would be unfortunate). Throw some thigh high socks on, a pair of combat boots and you are ready to go. If you are not comfortable walking around with just a t-shirt on, add some lace shorts, and don't forget about the aviator sunglasses, choker and layered necklaces.

The bohemian look

If you were looking for the perfect festival look or the boho vibe just hit you hard search no more, I got you covered. Browse through your closet for a maxi skirt or a pair of flowy pants, add some sandals or wedges (for some extra inches) and head out the door. However, feel free to experiment: hats, backpacks, necklaces and bracelets, and let's not forget about the feathers in your hair and gold (temporary) tattoos.

The sleek look

This one is for my girls who want to look like they spent more time than they actually did, and I don't think it get's easier. Remember the destroyed boyfriend jeans and white band crop top in the back of your closet? Hop into your nude pumps (that you bought thinking about these), put on a professional looking watch and a pop of colour with a orange (or any else you prefer) bag.

The bussines look

Who said you can't bring some punk to work or school? The key is to mix the comfyness of a tee with some structure, like a patterned skort (also to add some colour to the classic attire) and a blazer (as edgy as you want it to be). Don't forget about the perfect bag to store 'em files, some flats to run around the campus or chase a cab, and most important, a pair of glasses (I have them on prescription, so not so much hipster for me) to show your colleagues that you know what you are doing..

Fall(ing) into cardigans

For the cold mornings when you want to keep it as simple as possible, but not look like you were dressing with your eyes closed, here's your salvation. Over the tank and leggings that you may or may not have slept in the night before, add a fairly nice cardigan, to cover your behind (because we all know leggings are not pants), hop in your ankle boots and put on a pair of big earrings to take some looks away from your messy hair.

Layering, layering, layering...

The number of items you add to this combo depends only on how cold you are. Starting off with the basic white tank and black ripped skinnies, paired with some platform boots, maybe a necklace or sunnies (yes, you can wear them in the fall if you want to). As the temperature goes lower, we start adding a flannel, a beanie, a scarf and a leather jacket. When it comes to layers, the more, the better.

Daring leopard

The last outfit would have to be my personal attempt to escape the confort zone. Something about the usual band tank with a lace hem skirt, paired with thigh high boots and a leopard print faux fur coat, even though it reminds me of Cruella Deville and Taylor Momsen at the same time, makes me want to wear this so much. If you think this is too much for daylight, I totally get it, I do too, maybe a night out in town can be a nice opportunity.

In the comments below, tell me how do you usually wear your band tees and which of the outfits here is your favourite.
